Marc Jacobs: Dot Perfume Facsimile

JUSTSO is one of the leading Retail Design Companies. In June 2012 JUSTSO were approached by the client to look at producing a giant facsimile of the new Marc Jacobs DOT Perfume bottle for Westfield White City and Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centres in London. The oversized bottle was to be suspended from the ceiling. Having the 2012 London Olympic Park so close by at Stratford City and thousands of tourists flooding to London for the Jubilee meant this was an unmissable marketing opportunity.

Marc Jocobs Dot bottle

This attractive packaging celebrates Marc Jacobs’ iconic pattern, a striking perfume bottle composed of circular shapes that are covered in a chic red and black polka dot motif. With an oversized butterfly inspired cap and smaller butterfly shapes adorning the bottle, it has an elegant and eye-catching effect.

The design team begun work on producing technical drawings including an elevation and plan of the 3m high bottle, ensuring at all times that every part was to scale. A sample board was produced so that the clients could see colours and materials as they would be on the fasimile.

Installation took place overnight when the shopping centres were shut. Being suspended at such a height above an area where the general public would be walking meant that everything had to be planned well in advance and executed seamlessly.
