Harrods: Disney Christmas 2012

JUSTSO were proud to be part of the magical Christmas window display design at the world’s favourite luxury department store, Harrods. The enchanting concept was based around 10 Disney princesses and their stories that some of the biggest names in fashion created stunning ballgowns for. In December 2012, after 6 months of planning, designing and sourcing, The Disney Christmas windows at Harrods 2012 were unveiled to the world.

Harrods approached JUSTSO to help create a series of stunning, sophisticated window display design creations which would combine the much-loved Disney princesses with the best in the world of fashion and couture. Each Princess had a dress designed and made especially for the Christmas display by a top designer.

Working to this brief and seeing initial ideas and sketches for these beautiful dresses, as well as taking inspiration from the much-loved movies that we have all grown up with, the JUSTSO design team created some fantastic initial sketches which had to be sent to Harrods and to Disney for approval.

Once approval was received from both parties, we forged ahead with designing, making and sourcing all the necessary elements of these highly detailed and complex designs. This ranged from searching worldwide for a particular kind of moss, to finding an authentic edging for the carpet on Beauty’s stairs. Never a dull moment at JUSTSO! Every detail has to be exactly right, as we are re-creating a world that people all over the world know so well, and this means finding the best possible team of suppliers to help us put this together.

The installation took 3 nights, taking place when the store was closed to the public and all window display designs were hidden from public view until complete for the grand unveiling. Our amazing team were able to set up, build and dress the windows beautifully within our tight deadline, and Harrods launched the Disney Christmas windows and exterior Christmas lights for 2012 with a fantastic fireworks display and the traditional Christmas parade featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse, the princesses themselves and of course, Father Christmas.
